Tour Of Fairy Meadows...in Pakistan

Fairy Meadows, located in the heart of Pakistan's Gilgit-Baltistan region, is famous for its verdant plateau and the imposing presence of the world's ninth highest peak, Nanga Parbat, often called the "Killer Mountain". Located in Diamar district, this beautiful meadow is at an altitude of 3,300 metres (10,826 ft) above sea level. It features vast grasslands, surrounded by dense alpine forests and fed by the glacial waters of Nanga Parbat, which rises to the south. The name "Ferry Meadows" was given in 1953 by Austrian mountaineer Hermann Bohl, who was the first to reach the summit of Nanga Parbat. Locally it is known as "Jut", while German climbers call it Marchenweiss, meaning "fairytale fields".

Fairy Meadows is accessible by a 15-km jeep track from Raikot Bridge on the Karakoram Highway to the village of  Tatu (Tatu). The only Ferry Meadows road, deemed the second deadliest road on the planet by the World Health Organization in 2013, is only open to locals who ferry visitors from Raikot Bridge to Tatoo. From Tato, it takes three to four hours to walk five kilometers to reach Fairy Meadows. The meadow is located in the Rakhyot Valley, at one end of the Rakhwat Glacier, which rises from Nanga Parbat and feeds a stream that eventually flows into the Indus River.

Visitors to Fairy Meadows can stay in small cabins or designated campsites on site, as the area is designated as a national park. The area serves as a base for climbers scaling the north face of Nanga Parbat and has had locally managed camping sites since 1992. Camping or staying in a traditional wooden hut offers a unique experience, especially on clear moonlit nights, reflecting the moonlight.
